Russell Brand replaces sex with rock climbing

Newly-celibate Russell Brand – who previously boasted he had slept with nearly 1000 women – has replaced sex with rock climbing and enjoys weekly trips to The Castle Climbing Centre in North London.

Russell Brand has replaced sex with rock climbing.

The ‘St. Trinian’s’ star – who recently announced he had become celibate – has reportedly channeled his energies into mastering the art of climbing with weekly trips to The Castle Climbing Centre in North London.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ”Russell seems determined to master the hobby.

”He’s really friendly and approaches other climbers for help and has admitted that he was scared at first. It doesn’t come naturally as he’s quite gangly.”

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old comedian and actor – who previously boasted he had slept with nearly 1,000 people – recently revealed he had given up sex, blaming ”old sexist Essex” for his previous views on sexual encounters and women.

He said: ”We need to be more nourishing and open to our femininity and I’m saying that from the position of a man who’s recently celibate.

”I grew up in old sexist Essex, I’ve got loads to learn on the subject of feminism. I think the loss of femininity in our culture is to the detriment of us as men.”

Russell – who attended rehab for his sex addiction in the past – also previously opened up about the reasons why he found himself addicted to sex.

Writing in his autobiography ‘My Booky Wook’, he said: ”Sex is recreational for me, as well as a way of accruing status and validation … We all need something to help us unwind at the end of the day … This is what sex provides for me – a breathing space, when you’re outside of yourself and your own head.”
