Former ‘Doctor Who’ actor Matt Smith has signed on to star in pandemic action drama ‘Patient Zero’.

Matt Smith has been cast in ‘Patient Zero’.

The former ‘Doctor Who’ star has signed on to appear in the infection film which will see him have to cope with the aftermath of a worldwide viral pandemic across the Earth.

Matt will appear opposite ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Natalie Dormer, who has already been cast.

The disease in the film is spawned from a super-strain of rabies which spawns a new species of humans that are entirely driven by violence, however, one man will be immune from the virus and is also able to communicate with the infected people and becomes the hope for saving humanity.

Smith, 32, is set to portray the uninfected man, with Dormer believed to be playing his wife, who does contract the disease and whom he is trying to save.

Stefan Ruzowitzky will direct the project, while Mike Le has penned the screenplay.

Matt can next be seen on the big screen in ‘Terminator: Genisys’ – which sees Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the sci-fi franchise – which hits cinemas on July 3.
