Johnny Coca tipped to helm Mulberry

Céline’s Johnny Coca is the latest designer rumoured to be in line to take on the role of creative director at Mulberry.

Johnny Coca has been tipped to take on the role of creative director at Mulberry.

The accessories designer Рwho is the acting design director for leather goods, accessories, shoes and jewellery at C̩line Рis reportedly being poached by the British brand to helm the company.

Other rumoured candidates for the position Рwhich has been left vacant since Emma Hill departed from the luxury label in September 2013 Рinclude the former creative director of Issa, Blue Farrier and the former creative director of Chlo̩, Hannah MacGibbon, reports WWD.

The news follows reports Mulberry has actively begun looking for a new creative director and chief executive.

Non-executive chairman of the English fashion label, Godfrey Davis, recently reassured shareholders that more stable financial times are ahead and hinted they are close to making the appointments.

He said: ”We are actively working on both [a new chief executive and creative director]. We hope to tell the market fairly soon.”

Davis has also revealed that the candidate Mulberry has its sights on to replace Emma is ”understood to be” contracted to another company, adding that the brand ”won’t announce anything until the planets are aligned”.
