Gemma Ward makes modelling comeback

Gemma Ward made her modelling comeback last night, appearing on the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week for Prada.

Gemma Ward made her modelling comeback last night (18.09.14).

The 26-year-old beauty has been on a seven-year hiatus from the fashion industry but last night (18.09.14) took to the catwalk for Prada’s spring/summer 2015 show at Milan Fashion Week, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reports.

The supermodel – who was scouted when she was just 14-years-old and made her catwalk debut at 15-years-old – retired in 2007 and disappeared from the spotlight altogether in 2008 to deal with the loss of fellow Australian and Hollywood actor Heath Ledger.

Gemma – who has appeared in a number of films including ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ and ‘The Great Gatsby’ since quitting modelling – has spoken out about losing Heath, whom she was seeing at the time of his death from an overdose, in the past.

Speaking in 2011, she said: ”I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years and it was something spurred by Heath’s death. [Heath and I] first met in New York and we were both struggling with things that I won’t go into, and we bonded over that.

”I met him and said, ‘I’m kind of going through a hard time and I’m not interested in having a serious relationship with somebody right now’, and he was like, ‘You know, let’s just be there for each other through these hard times we’re both going through’. And we developed a relationship and we started seeing each other.”

However, the young star has since found love with fellow model David Letts, with whom she has a nine-month-old daughter Naia.
