Hermes names Christophe Lemaire’s successor

Hermès has appointed Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski as Christophe Lemaire’s successor after he quit the label this week.

Hermès has named a replacement for Christophe Lemaire .

The brand’s womenswear designer announced earlier this week that he is leaving the French fashion house in order to focus on developing his own label and Hermès has now appointed Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski as artistic director.

Nadège, 36, previously worked at Maison Martin Margiela, Céline and most recently, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s label, The Row.

Axel Dumas, chief executive officer of Hermès, welcomed said: ”Her talent and her creative track record will be great assets in the continued development of women’s ready-to-wear. She will devote herself full-time to our house.”

Christophe announced his departure in a joint statement with Hermès, saying: ”My own label is growing in an important way and I now really want and need to dedicate myself to it fully.”

Axel added: ”Under his artistic direction the métier has renewed its aesthetic and produced very satisfactory financial results. I wish him the greatest success with his own label which is so close to his heart.”

He will leave after presenting his final collection at Paris Fashion Week in October.
