Guillermo del Toro: Hellboy 3 ‘almost impossible’

Guillermo del Toro has revealed that while he’s already thought up a plot for a third ‘Hellboy’ film making it would be ”almost impossible” due to a lack of financial backing.

Guillermo del Toro claims making ‘Hellboy 3’ would be ”almost impossible”.

The 49-year-old director has confessed that while he’d love to make a third instalment of the sci-fi action film series, it’s not financially feasible.

He explained: ”Creatively, I would love to make it. Creatively.

”But it is proven almost impossible to finance. Not from my side, but from the studio side. If I was a multimillionaire, I would finance it myself, but I spend all my money on rubber monsters.”

The first two films tell the story of a demon (Hellboy) who is raised from infancy after being conjured and rescued from the Nazis and later becomes a defender against the forces of darkness.

And despite admitting he hasn’t received studio backing for the project, del Toro claims he’s already thought up a plot for the sequel, which would see Hellboy finally become the beast of the Apocalypse.

According to Variety, he said: ”Well, you know, we don’t have the movie on the horizon, but the idea for it was to have Hellboy finally come to terms with the fact his destiny, his inevitable destiny, is to become the beast of the Apocalypse…

”He has to become the beast of the Apocalypse to be able to defend humanity, but at the same time he becomes a much darker being. It’s a very interesting ending to the series, but I don’t think it will happen.”

del Toro is currently working on the sequel to ‘Pacific Rim’ and on his upcoming thriller ‘Crimson Peak’.
