Jon Spaihts is in talks to write the script for ‘Doctor Strange’.

The screenwriter and author has reportedly entered into negotiations with Marvel Studios to write the script for their latest comic book picture which follows a neurosurgeon, who becomes a Sorcerer Supreme, as he tries to protect the earth from magical and mystical threats.

Although cast details for the film are yet to be confirmed, Marvel is said to have a shortlist of actors, including Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch, that they hope to team up with.

Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto – who picked up the gong for Best Supporting Actor at this year’s Academy Awards for his role in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’- is also rumoured to star in the movie.

The first draft of the ‘Doctor Strange’ script has already been penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer and the film makers have called in Avenger’s director and Marvel Studio’s president Kevin Feige to produce the movie, with Scott Derrickson directing.

Meanwhile, Spaihts – who is best known for co-writing the sci-fi flick ‘Prometheus’ – is currently working on a Universal Studio’s ‘The Mummy’ remake as well as alien flick ‘The Darkest Hour’.
