Charlie Hunnam ‘heartbroken’ after exiting 50 Shades of Grey

Charlie Hunnam was left ”heartbroken” after he dropped out of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ but is still keen to see Jamie Dornan’s portrayal of Christian Grey when the film is released.

Charlie Hunnam was left ”heartbroken” after he dropped out of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ .

The 34-year-old British actor was initially cast a sadomasochistic billionaire Christian Grey in the adaptation of E. L. James erotic novel and insists he found it difficult not being able to play the character which Jamie Dornan later took on.

He told Life & Style magazine: ”I felt like I had an interesting take on that character and felt like I could have done a good job of playing Christian Grey, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken it on in the first place.

”When you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind, it’s heartbreaking not to be able to play him […] It was definitely kind of heartbreaking having to say goodbye to that character and not bring it to life.”

Hunnam is keen to see Dornan’s portrayal of Grey when the movie hits the big screen.

He added: ”If they invite me to the premiere, I will go and see it there. ”If not, I’ll go and buy some tickets on opening night.”

Hunnam exited the role last October due to an ”immersive TV schedule” with ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and movie ‘Crimson Peak’.

His decision to pull out of the movie came as a surprise to fans as he had gushed about how excited he was to be cast in the blockbuster alongside Dakota Johnson, who plays his love interest Anastasia Steele, weeks before the announcement.
