Prince Harry to visit Suffolk

Britain’s Prince Harry will visit Suffolk in Ipswich today (29.05.14) to meet charity workers and visit the annual Suffolk Show, a popular agricultural event.

Britain’s Prince Harry will visit Suffolk today (29.05.14).

The 29-year-old royal, who attended the prestigious Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall, London yesterday to support his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, will meet charity workers from Inspire Suffolk and take part in rugby and football coaching sessions with youngsters and talk to people taking part in The Prince’s Trust Team Programme, before heading to the Suffolk Show.

Organisers of the annual agricultural event, held in Ipswich, claim the royal visit will be a ”wonderful boost”.

The prince will stop by the Farm Discovery Zone to meet young farmers before watching a Royal British Legion parade at the event, which attracts more than 80,000 visitors every years.

Show director Bill Baker told the BBC he hoped the prince’s visit will held to appeal to young people to take an interest in farming and consider it as a future career.

He said: ”The prince enjoys a strong public following and his visit is especially appreciated in a year when we are working to appeal to more young people at the show and presenting the kinds of careers available to them in the food and farming related industries.”

The 29-year-old royal has close links to Suffolk, having been based at Wattisham Airfield during his time in the Armed Forces.
