Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s former home targeted for fracking?

Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s former island home of Anglesey in north Wales could be lined up as a target for fracking, according to reports.

Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s former island home could become a target for fracking.

The royal couple spent the first two years of their married life in Anglesey, north Wales, while William worked as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot nearby.

According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the peaceful place they called home could potentially be devastated by mining after 4,000 Anglesey residents received letters of warning about the recent registration of old manorial rights.

Rights to 10,350 acres of the island were bought by Stephen Hayes on a whim over 20 years ago, and the former policeman believes the Government has now put the system of manorial titles in order because they could be worth a fortune in terms of the fracking industry.

Stephen told the paper: ”I regarded it as worthless until the Government, in recognising mineral values as a result of fracking, appear to have decided to put all the manorial titles in order and insisted they be registered.”

The paper reports that one local was hoping the royals would step in, saying ”it may be that William can help us in this”.

William and Catherine moved out of their Welsh property after the birth of Prince George in July and returned to the capital full-time, but haven’t ruled out a return .
