Shailene Woodley’s pixie crop caused style overhaul

Shailene Woodley says her short hair has forced her to change her style and was surprised to discover that her cropped pixie style leaves her feeling the chill.

Shailene Woodley says her short hair has forced her to change her style.

The 21-year-old actress claims getting the chop means she now makes a conscious effort to cover up her neck with scarves and polo neck jumpers in the winter months, as she was surprised to discover her new pixie style leaves her feeling the cold.

Shailene – who was speaking at the ELLE Women in Hollywood 2013 event in Beverly Hills – explained to People magazine: ”I wear so many more scarves. Having short hair reveals to you why it’s so important to cover your neck up, because it gets cold! It’s incredible. Not having hair, the lack of hair, even the weight on your head, reveals so much about your body’s chemistry I cannot even tell you.”

The brunette beauty says getting the radical cut was a liberating experience and she is enjoying the benefits of having shorter hair because of its low maintenance.

She explained: ”I love it. It’s so easy, man, I’ve always wanted to cut my hair … So it’s exciting to be able to just be free and chop it off.”

Shailene initially cut her luscious locks for her role as cancer patient, Lancaster, in her latest film ‘The Fault In Our Stars,’ and donated about eight inches of her long locks to Children With Hair Loss in August.

She joins actresses such as Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron who are also sporting short hairstyles.
