Prince William relaxed during investiture ceremony

Prince William was ”relaxed” as he performed his first investiture ceremony this afternoon (17.10.13).

The heir to the British throne was sharply dressed in his Royal Air Force (RAF) uniform as he wielded his ceremonial sword and bestowed honors upon recipients including Aled Jones, Vicar of Dibley producer Jon Plowman and tennis ace Andy Murray at Buckingham Palace.

The Prince and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, are huge fans on Wimbledon tournament winner Andy and he greeted him with a huge smile and took a little longer than the allocated 30 seconds to talk to him as he officially gave him his Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Andy said afterwards: ”He asked me about my recent back surgery which I had a few weeks ago and how I was feeling after Wimbledon.

”I teased him a bit as he had sent me a note to me before Wimbledon wishing me luck and his wife had written me a letter afterwards. Her handwriting was beautiful and I told him how fantastic it was compared to his.

”I have met him a few times before and he has always been very easy going. He seemed very relaxed today.”

The event was the first time Prince William – who became a first time father to Prince George in July – had stood in for his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, at an investiture ceremony, and marks his move to becoming a full time royal now he has completed his duties in the RAF after three years as a Search and Rescue pilot.

The prince is permitted to wear his RAF Uniform as, although he has left operational service, he officially remains in the force until January 2014.
