Princess Michael of Kent: Palace is like a terrace

Britain’s Princess Michael of Kent says Kensington Palace is like a ”terrace” house and often compares it to department store Harrods because there are so many different areas.

Britain’s Princess Michael of Kent says Kensington Palace is like a ”terrace” house.

The 71-year-old royal admits the luxury abode is also similar to department store Harrods because there are so many different areas, and revealed it is nicknamed ”aunt heap” because there are a lot of aunties living there.

She said: ”Kensington Palace is a little bit like Harrods. There are lots of courtyards.

”One of the family called it the ‘aunt heap’ because all the aunts live there, it’s like living in a terrace.

”[William and Kate] have been living there for a while in a little cottage. William and Harry grew up next door to us so we have always seen them.”

The princess recently became a grandmother after her and Prince Michael of Kent’s son Lord Frederick Windsor and his wife, actress Sophie Winkleman, welcomed daughter Maud, who is now two months old, into the world – and she was impressed with how long the little one’s legs were.

Speaking on ITV’s ‘Daybreak’, she added: ”It was just a little thing, you know, awfully small. I’d forgotten how small they are. She has very long legs though. My two had little fat legs like a frog but she had long slender things that hung down.

”Now I get pictures almost daily. I live on Skype.”
