Michael B. Jordan is being lined up for a starring role in the ‘Independence Day’ sequel.
The ‘Fruitvale Station’ star has reportedly been in talks with director Roland Emmerich for the follow-up to the 1996 sci-fi blockbuster slated to be called ‘ID Forever Part 1’.
According to The Wrap, Jordan hasn’t yet received an offer but he is a firm favourite with Emmerich following meetings with string of young actors.
The 26-year-old could act as a replacement for Will Smith, who is unlikely to reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller in the alien invasion epic, after his representatives said his status regarding the ‘Independence Day’ sequel remains unchanged as a no.
If Smith does not return it appears Jordan would take over the franchise as the lead star should Fox move forward with additional instalments.
Familiar faces such as Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are expected to return to the franchise which is set to hit cinemas on July 3, 2015, though recent reports suggest it could be delayed until 2016.
