Lindsay Lohan has been criticised by ‘The Canyons’ director for failing to support the movie.

Paul Schrader has hit out at the 27-year-old actress – who he previously referred to as a ”talented but unpredictable star” – for her lack of support at the Venice film festival last month and for turning her back on him after he gave her a chance following her brief stint in rehab.

Taking to Facebook, he said: ”I am mystified and disappointed by LL’s refusal to support The Canyons. She is a producer of the film, a 25% owner. She has received wonderful reviews (among the negative) for her performance.

”I hired her when no one else would. She fought to keep the role when I wanted to fire her for unreliability. She has no other films in the can. (sic).”

The flame-haired beauty – who has previously posed nude for Playboy magazine – appears as a porn star in the thriller alongside James Deen, and Schrader predicts she ducked press commitments because she wasn’t keen on Deen.

He explained: ”I can only surmise that Lindz had decided that Canyons is part of a reprobate past she must put behind her in order to move forward. She was never comfortable working with James Deen and perhaps this still sticks in her craw. I assume those closest to her, her family and reps, had advised her to treat Canyons as an indiscretion.”(sic).”
