Lamar Odom’s father doesn’t believe he has a drug problem.
The 33-year-old basketball star’s dad, Joe Odom, who is a recovering heroin addict, regrets lashing out at his daughter-in-law, Khloe Kardashian, and her family and only blamed them for his son’s problems because he is ”frustrated” and thinks Lamar is ”clean”.
He told gossip website TMZ.com: ”I’m really not trying to talk bad about them. I got upset.
”I feel like they’re getting a bad rap. I apologize for the things I said previously, because I was frustrated. The family is a wonderful family but every time I turn around I’m being called a heroin addict and, in my mind, I think that’s not fair. That’s my son, I love my son. I was hoping and praying that my son would be playing basketball.”
Joe admits he has not tried to reach out to Lamar about his alleged drug problem.
He said: ”No, I haven’t because I really don’t believe the things that they’re saying about him. To me, my son is clean, he does the right thing, he works out, he is about basketball, he is about his job. I hear people talk about him like that, I get frustrated and upset. Nobody perfect in this world. Every time I turn around they’re saying I’m a heroin addict and I’m not even abusing drugs.”
Lamar hit out at his father in a scathing attack on Twitter on Tuesday night (09.24.13), after Joe blasted the Kardashian family for ruining his son’s life and ”controlling” him.
He wrote: ”He disrespecting the ONLY FAMILY that has loved me without expecting anything in return. They are the ONLY ones that have been here consistently 4 me during this dark time. (sic)”
