Kristin Chenoweth joins Jennifer Lopez thriller

Kristin Chenoweth is in talks to play Jennifer Lopez’s best friend in a new thriller about a single mother who embarks on a torrid fling with a teenage boy.

Kristin Chenoweth is in talks to join Jennifer Lopez in ‘The Boy Next Door’.

The ‘Glee’ actress is set to play Lopez’s best friend in a new thriller which will star the leading lady as a single mother who embarks on an illicit affair with a teenager, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress-and-singer will play a woman who recently split from her husband and finds herself attracted to her younger next door neighbour. However, when she calls off their illicit romance after a brief fling, the young teen becomes agitated, leading to dramatic consequences.

The film has been likened to Michael Douglas and Glenn Close-starring classic, ‘Fatal Attraction’.

Chenoweth made her name as a stage actress, originating the part of Glinda the Good Witch in Broadway musical, ‘Wicked’. The actress has mostly starred in comedy and musical fare, making this her first foray into the gritty thriller genre.

Her previous credits include TV show ‘Pushing Daisies’ and hit musical show, ‘Glee’.

‘The Boy Next Door’ will be produced on a modest budget by Blumhouse Productions, which has enjoyed immense success with its micro-budget films, including ‘The Purge’ and ‘Insidious: Chapter 2’. The latter movie cost just $5 million to make, but earned over $40 million in its opening weekend.

Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions will co-produce and Universal will distribute the movie.

Production will start later this year.
