Tom Ford’s new line reflects 90s Gucci style

Tom Ford’s new collection reflected his glamorous 90s Gucci campaigns.

The 52-year-old designer – who took over as creative director for Gucci in 1994 – saved the brand from near bankruptcy when he first started by creating dazzling collections, and he debuted a similar style on the catwalk for his new Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2014 collection during London Fashion Week yesterday (09.16.13).

Models strutted down the mirrored catwalk sporting figure hugging, short jewelled dresses which were embellished with lace, ribbons, and reflective print tiles.

His daring line included fishnet tights, sky-high bondage boots and visible thongs under sheer skirts – not to mention biker jackets, leather skirts and animal print, in a collection which oozed sex appeal.

The star-studded audience, which included A-Listers Cate Blanchett, Colin Firth and American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, watched from the front row at the dimly lit venue.

Tom has previously emphasised the importance of looking good over comfort, claiming he is willing to suffer for the sake of vanity.

He said: ”Comfort for me is knowing I look great, and if I have to suffer in a corset for four hours to look amazing, than that’s comfort.”
