Duchess Catherine to make first post-pregnancy appearance

Britain’s Duchess Catherine will attend the Tusk Conservation Awards in central London on September 12 in her first public appearance since becoming a mother.

Britain’s Duchess Catherine is to undertake her first public appearance since becoming a mother on September 12.

The 31-year-old royal and Prince William – who welcomed their first child, Prince George, into the world on July 22 – will be a guest of honor at the inaugural Tusk Conservation Awards at The Royal Society in central London, next month.

A Kensington Palace spokesman confirmed to MailOnline: ”It is a long standing engagement.”

Catherine will still officially be on maternity leave at the time of the event, which is being organized UK charity Tusk Trust which funds African conservation projects.

The royal couple will meet the nominees, unsung heroes of wildlife conservation, at a private reception prior to the ceremony, during which the winner of the Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa award will be announced as well as other accolades.

It is not yet known who will babysit George when Catherine and William, who is a patron of the charity, are at the ceremony, but it is expected to be the duchess’ mother Carole Middleton.

William, Catherine and George are currently residing at her parents Carole and Michael Middleton’s £4.7 million home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, south east England, following the birth of the family’s newest member.
