Britain’s Prince Harry unveiled a plaque to commemorate his brother Prince William’s wedding yesterday (04.06.13).

The flame-haired royal was charged with revealing the tribute to William and Duchess Catherine’s nuptials – which took place in April 2011 – at Westminster Abbey, where around 2,000 guests gathered to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.

Hugo Vickers, chairman of The Outdoor Trust, told the Daily Express newspaper: ”He [Harry] was interested to see the panel. It depicted the royal wedding and I couldn’t resist the line that, since he was the best man, he was the best man to unveil it.”

After Harry unveiled the plaque, which depicted a scene from the couple’s wedding, he was given a Coronation goblet – which was made in 1953, the year his grandmother first took to the throne – by 12-year-old Alice Vickers, who presented it to him in a box decorated with the Union Jack flag.

Harry thanked Alice by shaking her hand which prompted the crowds who had gathered to cheer in delight.

As well as playing his own part in the celebrations, the 27-year-old royal loved the queen’s coronation service and wanted it to go on for even longer.

Westminster Abbey’s Receiver General Sir Stephen Lamport explained: ”He said he enjoyed the service today very much. He thought it could have been even longer.”
