Prince Philip too ill to attend event

Britain’s Prince Philip was forced to pull out of an event yesterday (03.06.13) due to feeling ”unwell”, but he is expecting to attend a service to mark the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation today (04.06.13).

Britain’s Prince Philip was too ill to attend an event yesterday (03.06.13).

The 91-year-old royal was forced to pull out of a gala evening for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) at St James’ Palace at the last minute, but he is expected to recover for today’s (04.06.13) service to mark the 60th anniversary of his wife Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: ”The duke is unwell, but he will be at the service tomorrow.”

No further details of the Duke of Edinburgh’s illness have been revealed.

Philip – who turns 92 next week – is also said to have missed out on attending a lecture at St George’s House in Windsor last Friday (31.05.13), but he was able to join the queen for a day out on Saturday (01.06.13) when the couple took in the horse racing at Epsom, Surrey, south east England.

Last August, the duke spent five nights at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland, receiving treatment following the recurrence of a bladder infection.

But following his hospitalization he refused to cut back his schedule and returned to work shortly afterwards.
