Evan Peters lands X-Men role

Evan Peters will star as Quicksilver in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, director Bryan Singer has confirmed on Twitter.

Evan Peters has joined the cast of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.

The ‘American Horror Story’ star will play speedy mutant Quicksilver – a character who is also due to appear in Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers’ sequel – in the forthcoming superhero film, and director Bryan Singer is "thrilled" to have landed the 26-year-old actor for the role.

The filmmaker tweeted: "Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver.(sic)"

Peters will star alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ellen Page and Michael Fassbender in the motion picture, but his alter-ego looks unlikely to specifically mention ‘The Avengers’ in the ‘X-Men’ movie.

Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige told SuperHeroHype: "They can use [the characters] as mutants and as Magneto’s relatives, but cannot have anything to do with The Avengers."

While it is not known whether Peters will take on the same role in the ‘Avengers’ sequel, his girlfriend Emma Roberts – who is set to star alongside him in ‘American Horror Story’ – has been linked to the part of Quicksilver’s twin sister Scarlet Witch.

The new ‘X-Men’ installment will see the stars of the original trilogy unite with the cast of 2011’s prequel ‘X-Men: First Class’ in a time-travelling plot when the future of the mutant race is jeopardised.
