Plan B to embrace dance music?

Plan B may embrace dance music on his next album, like his work with drum and bass duo Chase & Status.

Plan B may embrace dance music on his next album.

The rapper strayed from his roots for his 2008 smash hit album ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’ before returning to rap for the soundtrack to ‘iLL Manors’ last year, and now he may move on to dance music.

When asked what his next musical plans are, he told GlobalGathering festival’s radio show: "I was actually thinking about something dance orientated informed by the stuff I’ve done with [drum and bass duo] Chase & Status, then maybe going and doing something like that.

"I don’t even know if it would be under Plan B or what, but it’s something I’ve always had a desire in. I’ve always kind of craved to explore that part of me that likes that kind of music."

Plan B – real name Ben Drew – is proud of the dance music heritage of East London, where he hails from, and the way the music of pirate radio stations has gone on to become mainstream.

He added: "The UK dance scene has affected the rest of the world, you think about the stuff that started in East London, like the grime scene or jungle drum and bass – all the underground stuff that has happened here there’s something about East London that makes our underground music pretty amazing and it seems to spread all over the city and then it spreads all over the country."

Plan B is headlining GlobalGathering, which takes place at Stratford-Upon-Avon, Middle England, on July 26 and 27. He is joined on the bill by Example, Rita Ora, Katy B, DJ Fresh and many more.

Plan B is also be on the bill for Lovebox festival, which takes place on July 19 to 21.
