Joanna Lumley thinks Britain’s royal family are ”the best fun”.
The ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress – who regularly attends high profile events in the company of the royals – has admitted she always gets nervous in the run-up to meeting them, but is soon put at ease by the fun-loving family’s good humour.
Speaking on Magic FM, she admitted: ”You can get quite scared about going to a royal thing but it’s fascinating. They are the best fun – kind and funny people.
”They laugh a lot and have a good time.”
The 66-year-old star even celebrated her birthday on Wednesday (01.05.13) in the company of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at a reception to mark the 60th anniversary of the Samaritans charity.
Quizzed about how she was planning to celebrate, she replied: ”Actually, go to Clarence House for drinks in the evening with the Samaritans and Prince Charles and the Duchess.”
In 2010, Joanna – who was a guest at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s high profile wedding the following year – also offered a memorable insight into her first meeting of the popular young royal couple.
She joked: ”They were very tall.”
