Kanye West’s new album will be very "dark".
The controversial rapper has allegedly finished recording the follow-up to 2010’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ and recently previewed the sombre new tracks at a private Def Jam party.
Speaking on US hip-hop radio station Hot97, DJ Paul Rosenberg revealed: "Everyone at the label that listened to the album loved it. I’ve heard it’s dark, but really good".
Kanye, 35, announced during a gig in March he would be putting out new material in "a couple of months". A Biblical-inspired track called ‘I Am A God’ is expected to feature on the album, which is thought to be a reference to Psalm 82 and explore the idea that all people are manifestations of higher beings.
French duo Daft Punk – who sampled their track ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ for Kanye’s 2007 hit ‘Stronger’ – also revealed they had collaborated on two songs for his new album, which saw the outspoken star adopt an unusual vocal style.
Thomas Bangalter said: "It was very raw: he was rapping – kind of screaming primally, actually."
The other half of the pair, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, added: "Kanye doesn’t give a f**k. He’s a good friend."
