Britain’s Duchess of Cornwall thinks Coleen Rooney needs to be more sensible with her money.
The Prince of Wales’ wife made the comment at an event in London last night (26.03.13) when she was shown a photo of the lavish £5 million wedding dress the socialite wore during her 2007 nuptials to English football ace Wayne Rooney.
Camilla was addressing charities about the importance of financial education at a conference at Toynbee Hall, Tower Hamlets, when she discovered just how much Coleen paid for her bespoke gown.
James Wilson, an education officer at MyBnk charity, told The Telegraph newspaper: ”The particular slide she spotted was Coleen McLoughlin, Wayne Rooney’s wife.
”The question is ‘how much does her wedding dress cost?’ and it works out somewhere in the region of £5million, once she paid for it to be hand-made and the diamonds.
”So she joked about just learning about being more sensible with your money.”
The 65-year-old royal appeared very interested in MyBnk charity’s mission to make money-saving relevant to young people, and was particularly enthused by a slide which showed you could save £365 in a year by cutting down on fizzy drinks.
A Clarence House spokesman explained the Duchess is interested in the work of communities helping each other and in Credit Unions’ financial awareness work.
