Prince Charles given gift for grandchild

Britain’s Prince Charles was given a personalized gift for his future grandchild at the Williams F1 facility in Doha – a babygrow in the style of racing overalls.

Britain’s Prince Charles was given a personalized gift for his future grandchild yesterday (14.03.13).

The prince visited the Williams F1 facility at the Qatar Science and Technology Park in Doha as part of his Middle East tour and the company CEO Alex Burns gave him a babygrow in the style of the team’s racing overalls for the baby of Charles’ son Prince William and his wife Duchess Catherine.

The belt of the babygrow was embroidered with ‘HRH’ – for His or Her Royal Highness – echoing the way Formula 1 drivers have their initials on their racing overalls.

Mr. Burns said: ”Here is something we have had embroidered for your future grandchild, Sir, very many congratulations.”

Charles – who will become a grandfather for the first time in July – replied: ”How lovely. Thank you very, very much. That is very kind of you.”

Meanwhile, the prince joked he felt sea-sick after experiencing a vehicle simulator at the Science and Technology Park.

Charles agreed to get behind the wheel of the road safety device, which has the seat and dash board of a Range Rover and uses a detailed 3D recreation of the streets of Doha – but was reluctant to wear a seatbelt.

After asking he he had to wear it, his tour guide replied: ‘Well you should do as this is a road safety demonstration,” before telling him he didn’t need to.

Charles appeared overjoyed at the simulator, laughing as he ‘drove’ carefully through the streets.

However, he said afterwards: ”I think I might need a sea sickness tablet.”
