Prince Charles ‘enormously’ excited about being a grandfather

Britain’s Prince Charles is ”enormously” looking forward to becoming a grandfather to son Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s new baby, due in July.

Britain’s Prince Charles is ”enormously” looking forward to becoming a grandfather.

The future king’s son Prince William and his wife, Duchess Catherine, are expecting their first child in July and the royal is excited at the bond he will have with his grandchild.

He said: ”It’s a lovely thought and I look forward enormously to that relationship.”

The prince, who is an avid outdoorsman, is keen to ensure the land left behind for his family isn’t ”ruined” and hopes people can work in ”harmony” with nature.

Speaking on the 25th anniversary edition of BBC One show ‘Countryfile’, in which he is guest editing, Charles explained: ”We need to think about the future, we need to think what kind of world we’re handing on to our successors. If you think of it in those terms it should make us reflect on the way we do things so we don’t ruin it for them.

”That’s why it’s so important to work in harmony with nature rather than thinking we can somehow ignore, dominate, separate ourselves from nature, because unless we pay our respect to nature, she’s a great deal more powerful than we are.”

The 64-year-old heir to the throne also shared his love of walking and finds it a good time to ”reflect” on life.

He continued: ”Walking is a terribly important thing for me. Rather like some people need a cigarette, I need a walk.

”I find it stimulates the thinking and the reflecting. I spend my life stamping about and I have, you know, things I write down. That’s where the best thoughts come from.”
