No Alexander McQueen show for spring

Fashion brand Alexander McQueen has announced that it will skip the Fall/Winter 2013 runway shows set for this spring.

(Relaxnews) – With the brand’s creative director Sarah Burton set to give birth to twins, McQueen will instead host a more intimate presentation for press and buyers on March 5.

Currently heavily pregnant with twins, Sarah Burton, the designer and creative director at the London-based fashion house will be at home on maternity leave during Paris Fashion Week.

McQueen will show the collection to 100 fashion editors in a presentation on March 5, before buyers get to see the clothes.

Things will be back to normal in the autumn when McQueen will take up its usual slot in the runway show schedule to show off their Spring 2014 collection.

Born in Cheshire in the UK, Burton first hit the heights of fame when she took over as Creative Director after fashion designer Lee McQueen’s sad death in 2010. In 2011 her design for Kate Middleton’s wedding dress saw her name appear around the world. Burton studied at the famous Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and joined Alexander McQueen as an intern.
