Queen Elizabeth to open MRI unit

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth will open the new MRI unit at a hospital named after her next month, the monarch’s only listed engagements over the next few months.

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth will open the new MRI unit at a hospital named after her next month.

The 86-year-old monarch will officially open the specialist scanning wing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, on February 5, one of her only listed engagements over the next few months.

The queen and her husband Prince Philip are currently enjoying their annual holiday at the royal family’s estate in nearby Sandringham.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed the queen is advertising for a washer-up, who must be willing to travel for up to three months of the year around her palaces to do the dishes.

The successful applicant – who will be paid £14,200-a-year – will be based at Buckingham Palace but must be prepared to travel to Windsor, Sandringham, Balmoral and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh when the household moves around.

The job advert on the royal website states: ”You must be willing to work away from London for up to three months of the year.

”You will join the team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the staff restaurant, wash-up areas and equipment in accordance with the Health and Hygiene Regulations to ensure the smooth operation of the staff restaurant.”
