‘Avoid mismatching your hair and your look’ – Eduardo Sanchez of Dessange

(Relaxnews) – As year-end parties draw near, Dessange International artistic director Eduardo Sanchez shares his take on the season’s hair trends.

Relaxnews: What hairstyles are best suited to holiday parties?
Eduardo Sanchez: This year, we recommend updos and chignons. These styles are always glamorous, to be chosen according to the event and especially according to your look.

R: Could you tell us about a specific trend?
ES: For the F/W 2012 season, we suggest the French twist. Bangs bring an elegant and modern touch to this classic style. It can be paired with both casual and sophisticated outfits. Other easy options are the sock bun or a high ponytail like the one Sharon Stone wears in the movie Casino.

R: How can we create an easy French twist?
ES: Create a part from ear to ear so as to divide the hair into two sections, then tease the back section slightly to create some volume. I recommend straightening the hair to respect the couture spirit of this style. Twist the hair up around your thumb and attach with pins. Cover the twist with the remaining side locks and spray to fix. To finish the style, simply backcomb the top part of the hair and pin it back randomly. For the front, make sure you respect the natural movement of the hair and add a little hairspray.

R: What is the biggest mistake to avoid?
ES: Avoid mismatching your hair and your look.

R: Any tips on how to maintain perfect hair throughout the night?
ES: For chignons, always keep hairspray and a few hairpins and elastics in your purse.

R: Are hair accessories allowed?
ES: They should be harmonious with your hairstyle and with the other accessories you are wearing. To feel comfortable, also make sure everything is well attached.
