Princess Anne in Afghanistan

Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence are visiting British troops in Afghanistan and have taken a tour around Camp Tombstone.

Princess Anne has been visiting British troops in Afghanistan.

The royal has flown with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, into Camp Bastion where they will meet and number of military units.

The royals have already had a tour of Camp Tombstone where the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion – currently on a six-month tour – are based.

Major Andy Watson, 33, from Edinburgh, said: ”We were showing off a series of photographs to demonstrate what we’ve done and our approach to our mission over the past three months, and also some equipment.

”For many of the Jocks it’s the first time they’ve met Her Royal Highness, so for morale it’s fantastic – especially this close to Christmas.”

The princess also visited the Joint Aviation Group, including the Apache department, the Military Working Dogs Squadron, the 7th Regiment of the Royal Logistics Corps and 12 Logistic Support Regiment.

While they’re at Camp Bastion its also likely the visit Prince Harry – Anne’s nephew – who is currently on deployment in the country as an Apache helicopter pilot.
