Pete Waterman is refusing to tell his acts when they will perform at ‘Hit Factory Live’.
The pop producer is hosting a star-studded concert at The O2 in London on Friday (21.12.12) and he thinks it will echo the "fun" he had on his 1980s touring TV show ‘The Hit Man and Her’ if he leaves the final running order of the artists – which include Dead or Alive, Sinitta, Sonia, Brother Beyond, Steps and Jason Donovan – to the last minute.
He said: "You literally didn’t know where you were on the bill. And it had nothing to do with how you had gone down the night before, it was just how I judged the audience to be, and it was all great fun."
The show had originally been scheduled to take place in the summer in Hyde Park but was cancelled due to adverse weather, and Pete admits he was "devastated" when the gig was pulled, but thinks it was the right thing to do.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "I was devastated because obviously we were so ready. We were on our way to doing it when we got the call.
"If you had seen the park, it just wasn’t right. It doesn’t work, standing up and down and jumping, and trying to dance to Rick Astley in three feet of mud.
"You can’t ask people to stand out in the rain. In hindsight, I would have preferred this in the first place because it’s where we came from."
