Jean Paul Gaultier launching streetwear line

Jean Paul Gaultier has announced plans for a new streetwear line that will be unveiled in June 2013.

Jean Paul Gaultier is launching a new streetwear line.

The new label – which has not yet announced its name – will cater for both men and women and will be unveiled in June 2013.

The move follows a new licensing agreement with Ittierre SpA, who will also produce the label’s menswear line from autumn/winter 2013-14.

Following a deal in October, Gibo SpA will manufacture the designer’s women’s ready-to-wear collections.

According to Ittierre general director Alessandro Locatelli, the new streetwear line will reflect the signature "sartorial style" of the designer, and will be "close to the history of Ittierre and to the consumer".

The Italian manufacturer has previously produced younger collections for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli.

The news comes just over a month after it was announced the acclaimed designer was to part ways with Aeffe SpA.

The French designer ended his partnership with the Italian luxury goods group after having worked with them for since the mid-90s and entrusting Aeffe to produce his signature collections.
