Traded to Ottawa before last season, Alex DeBrincat had a good 2022-2023 season, but nothing more. In 82 games, the man who will become RFA on July 1 collected 66 points, including 27 goals.
We know that he has never expressed a desire to stay in the Canadian capital, and his future there is more uncertain than ever.
In fact, according to Pierre LeBrun, the chances of him leaving the Sens are greater than the chances of him staying.
Still according to @PierreVLeBrun, the odds of Alex DeBrincat being traded by the Senators are greater than the odds of him staying in Ottawa! 👀 pic.twitter.com/1FvYouR72N

LeBrun has confirmed that the forward and his agent, Jeff Jackson, have submitted to Pierre Dorion a list of destinations where he’d like to play.
This list would include Vegas (obviously), Nashville and Dallas, among others. It’s clear that the American wants to go to the United States. Detroit would also be a likely destination for him, as he hails from Michigan.
In fact, the informant wouldn’t be surprised if the Wings were active in the matter.
LeBrun on Insider Trading: “Alex DeBrincat as his camp led by agent Jeff Jackson has submitted the list of preferred destinations, teams his client would be interested in joining”

As I mentioned, DeBrincat will become RFA. Dorion doesn’t risk losing him for nothing, then. Will a team dare to make him a hostile offer? If the offer is a good one, and can yield a few good draft picks, the possibility that the Ottawa GM won’t match it is very real.
A Matthew Tkachuk-style swap is possible. After paying three draft picks for the forward, Dorion certainly wants to maximize the return (and rightly so). After all, the maverick is one of the best in the business.
Cont’d: “The reason that’s significant is of course if Pierre Dorion does trade Alex DeBrincat he would want him to be signed through this trade so that you get maximum value back in return, think of Matthew Tkachuk deal from Calgary to Florida last year”.

No, I don’t think Kent Hughes would be interested in the player. If he wants to leave Ottawa (and probably wants to go south of the border), Montreal certainly isn’t a destination of choice for him.
