The Golden Knights and Stars faced off in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday. Both teams recently lost in the Stanley Cup Final.
The Stars got off to a strong start with a goal from young forward Jason Robertson.

Robertson hadn’t found the back of the net since Game Five of the first-round series against the Minnesota Wild. Let’s just say it must have felt good for the player who is known to be an excellent scorer.
The Stars certainly felt some relief with this goal less than two minutes from the end of the period. Vegas fired 17 shots on Jake Oettinger’s net in the first period. The pressure was on.
After one period, the Stars were leading 1-0.
The Golden Knights continued to dominate in the second period. This time, they allowed the Stars only seven small shots.
This led to more offensive opportunities for Vegas, who finally found the back of the net. William Karlsson took advantage of a rebound behind Oettinger’s net to tie the game.

Once again, the tape helped in the goal.
After two periods, the Golden Knights had the wind in their sails, having just tied the game 1-1.
The third period was much more exciting than the first two. William Karlsson scored his second goal of the game to put the Knights ahead for the first time.

This time, luck had nothing to do with it. His shot was perfect.
Dallas struck back a few minutes later. Roope Hintz scored with a laser from the left circle.

The tie was brief. About five minutes later, there was traffic in front of Jake Oettinger’s net. All Teddy Blueger had to do was retrieve the puck and sink it into the back of the net.

However, the Stars hadn’t said their last word. Jamie Benn sent everyone into overtime.

The two teams didn’t need as much time as the Panthers and Hurricanes to decide a winner. Brett Howden quickly put an end to the debate to give Vegas the win.

Vegas won 4-3 to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Game two of the series takes place next Sunday in Vegas.
