Marc Bergevin is currently looking for work as general manager in the NHL. However, he appears to be very close to landing his first GM job since the Canadiens fired him in 2021.
On Friday, Daily Faceoff’s Frank Servavalli unveiled the finalists for the Flames’ GM job, and the Quebecer is one of them.
Hearing #Flames are in final stages of their GM search. Announcement next week? Believe 4 external candidates visited YYC in last week for in-person interviews, including Dave Nonis, Stan Bowman and Marc Bergevin.
If we were handicapping, odds-on favorite would be Craig Conroy.

Four candidates have reportedly had face-to-face meetings. These candidates include former Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis, former Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman and, of course, Marc Bergevin.
Bergevin acts as assistant to Los Angeles Kings general manager Rob Blake. The Canadiens fired him in November 2021, just a few months after the team reached the Stanley Cup Final.
The former CH GM interviewed earlier this week to become general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, he didn’t make it past the first round and had to look elsewhere for work.
He may now have the chance to join the Flames in the coming weeks. But he has plenty of competition. Perhaps former Flames general manager Brad Treliving could get his job back.
Also: Hearing #Flames have reconsidered their approach w former GM Brad Treliving, after our report last week, and will not get in the way if any future employment opportunity arises before his contract expires on June 30.
Ahem, an important development with #LeafsForever news.

Treliving himself left the Flames organization in April, as he did not get along well with head coach Darryl Sutter. Sutter was dismissed in May, and this could convince Treliving to return, as he is still under contract with the team until June 30.
However, Calgary has given Treliving the chance to contact other teams for potential employment.
Marc Bergevin is not yet a member of the Calgary Flames, but he could be in the next few weeks.
