The New York Rangers are one of four teams currently without a head coach. The Flames, Blue Jackets and Ducks are the other three.
The situation in the Big Apple is obviously making more noise because of the size of the market. Several coaches could be logical candidates, but Patrick Roy is a guy who attracts a lot of attention.
Of course, Roy is no stranger to big markets, and the pressure of the New York jungle won’t faze him. Jeff Marek wonders if Roy could make it with the Blue Shirts.
Marek on 32TP wonders about Chris Drury’s former teammate for the Rangers head coach position, Patrick Roy. Friedman says it wouldn’t surprise him, he’s got the personality to handle that market. It would surprise him if Roy didn’t at least consider it if approached.

Let’s not forget that Michel Bergeron and Yvon Pedneault alsosee Roy in Time Square. The choice would therefore be a logical one.
Currently, the former CH goaltender is the pilot of the Quebec Remparts, who are in the QMJHL finals. After his tour, which could last a few more days, he’ll decide whether to make the jump to the NHL or stay in junior.
According to Elliotte Friedman, however, the Rangers’ number-one target is Mike Sullivan, current head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Friedman maintains, however, that he is not available (since he has just extended his contract, among other things), but he wouldn’t be more surprised than necessary if Sullivan becomes the Rangers’ next pilot.
Friedman on 32TP says the Rangers dream is to get Mike Sullivan as head coach, but Friedman doesn’t believe he is available, he just signed an extension. However… Friedman warns crazier things have happened.

Former Leafs coach Mike Babcock could also be a prime candidate. Babcock coached the Leafs and Red Wings during his career, two very big field hockey markets. He was in the running until the very end for the Washington job, and came very close to returning to Detroit as well.
Despite the controversies, the guy is still respected and teams are showing interest.
In short, the next driver in New York will have a rather interesting, but very strict, mandate: to win a Stanley Cup.

– Wow.
The fully retractable roof at the Rogers Centre is an engineering masterpiece 🤯
It covers eight acres, reaches a height of 282 feet, weighs 11,000 tons, and can be opened/closed in 20 minutes to uncover more than 90% of the seating.
