Alistair Carr joins McQ

Former Pringle design director Alistair Carr has joined McQ as head of design.

Alistair Carr has joined McQ as head of design.

The designer will be responsible for the pre-autumn/winter 2013-14 collection of menswear, womenswear and accessories at the label, which is an Alexander McQueen brand.

Alistair previously worked at Pringle of Scotland as design director, but resigned that post in April.

He has also worked at Balenciaga, Marni, Cacharel and Chloé and also showed his own label at London Fashion Week for three seasons.

Alistair will report directly to Alexander McQueen head Sarah Burton, who will also retain creative control of the brand.

McQ had a very successful first show at London Fashion Week last season, which was held in a makeshift forest setting and included a military-inspired collection.

Alistair had managed to turn Pringle’s designs around, pushing a modern edge into the cashmere twinsets it is famous for.

As he left, Pringle CEO Jean Fang said: "I want to thank Alistair for all his great efforts and contributions at Pringle. We will miss him, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

Last week, the brand opened its debut store in London’s Mayfair.
