Mike Matheson took an active part in CH training today

Mike Matheson didn’t look like a healthy guy at the Canadiens’ last game in Vegas.

We wondered if he was suffering from the same injury that forced him to leave last Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets at the Bell Centre.

Martin St-Louis’ men are currently in Arizona for tomorrow’s showdown with the Coyotes, and the good news is that Matheson trained with the group today and seemed to be in good shape.

Cayden Primeau, Jake Allen and Samuel Montembeault have all played in the Canadiens’ last three games, and we still don’t know which goaltender will get the start tomorrow night against the Coyotes.

Marc Antoine Godin wouldn’t be surprised to see Primeau get the nod, and the idea makes sense. It makes sense because the Coyotes don’t have a huge strike force and because we’re talking about a decent opponent for a goalie who lacks experience in the National League.

It’s not yet confirmed, but Martin St-Louis could make some changes to his line-up tomorrow night.

Jesse Ylönen has taken Michael Pezzetta’s place on the fourth attacking unit, while Gustav Lindström has been training with Arber Xhekaj.

Jordan Harris was the extra player at today’s training session on defense:

The Canadiens will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing to the Golden Knights on Monday, and the Coyotes are the perfect team to do it.

That said, the Arizona outfit is off to a better-than-expected start, with a four-win, four-loss record after eight games…

The task may not be easy, but the Canadiens won’t be facing an NHL powerhouse either.

At least, if we compare the two clubs on paper, the CH should be able to save itself with the W.

Extension

Please note that tomorrow’s game is scheduled for 10 p.m., and you’ll have to stay up late (once again) to follow the duel.

Tanner Pearson, who has slowed down a little after a strong start to the season, will be playing in his 600th game in the National League. A fine platform for the veteran who was acquired by the CH in recent months.
