The Canadiens sell Gustav Lindström to the Laval Rocket

Tonight, Christian Dvorak will be back in uniform for his first game of the season. That said, given that the Habs already had 23 players on their active roster, we suspected that someone was going to have to be squeezed out of the lineup.

The two most likely scenarios were to see Rafaël Harvey-Pinard placed on the injured list (not necessarily for the long term, that said) or to see Gustav Lindström sent back to the AHL.

In the end, it was the latter scenario that prevailed: the CH has just announced that Lindström will take the orange line to Laval.

This is good news for Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, who doesn’t seem seriously injured enough to be placed on the injured list.

After tonight’s game, the Rocket will spend the next seven days without playing a single game. This means Lindström will have a long time to wait before playing his next game.

So, if RHP isn’t inconvenienced enough to miss (at least) a week, sending a player like Lindström back to Laval isn’t a bad idea, especially since he doesn’t necessarily need to play on a regular basis either. It’s not as if he’s an important part of the organization’s future.

More details to come…
