Top-2: The Ducks inflict their first regular-season defeat on the Knights

Last night in the NHL, there were only two games.

Here are the results and highlights:

1. Ducks hand Knights first regular season loss

The final game of the evening pitted the Ducks against the Golden Knights, who before the game were still unbeaten in the regular season.

But that’s no longer the case, as the surprising Ducks beat their opponents in regulation time. Vegas now has a record of 11-1-1. Anaheim thus inflicted the Knights’ first regular win and also handed the Bruins their first loss of 2023-2024.

Despite Jack Eichel’s brilliance (two points), Mason McTavish was the hero of the game once again. The young forward scored the winning goal in the dying moments of the game, just as he did a few days ago against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Despite falling behind 0-2 early in the third, the California team never gave up, eventually winning the game 4-2.

Greg Cronin’s team is now 7-4-0 and well on its way to the top of the draft.

2. Vitek Vanecek, a candidate for save of the year

The Devils and Blackhawks faced off in the evening’s other duel. One of the NHL’s powerhouses, the Devils, won 4-2.

Vitek Vanecek was superb in the win, stopping 32 of 34 shots.

He even made this spectacular save:

With this win, he reached the plateau of 80 career victories in the Bettman Circuit.

Despite high expectations for the youngster, Dawson Mercer hasn’t had the start to the season he’d hoped for. But yesterday, he finally scored his first goal of the 2023-2024 season.

In 11 games, it’s his only point. Let’s hope this goal will give him wings for the future.
