Filip Mesar: 12 points in six games since his return to Kitchener

Filip Mesar did not have a good training camp with the CH. As the camp got underway, he was talking about settling in Laval, and breaking into the NHL didn’t seem to be in his plans for this year.

After two games with the Rocket, he was traded to the Kitchener Rangers, a decision that makes sense given that the junior team is one of the best in the country (10th in the CHL).

Mesar has been quick to put on his work boots, to say the least, and he’s having a great time.

In six games since his return, he now has 12 points, including 3 goals.

Tonight, he was involved in three of his team’s five goals in a 5-0 Kitchener win over Owen Sound.

First, he took advantage of a poor save by the opposing goalkeeper to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Then, he thought he had his second goal of the game on a shot on goal, but it was his teammate who deflected the shot. He added another assist later in the game.

With these points added to his tally, he is now on a 6-game point streak. In fact, he has never been cleared from the scoresheet since his return.

If some were reluctant to send Mesar back to Kitchener, we realize that the situation is not like last year. The Rangers experienced all kinds of difficulties, and the Tricolore prospect was never able to take off.

The situation is very different this year, which is a good thing for Mesar and especially for his development, which is the subject of much discussion.
