Topshop sign JW Anderson to create collection

Sir Philip Green has signed JW Anderson to create a collection for Topshop.

Topshop’s Sir Philip Green has signed JW Anderson to create a collection for the British high street store.

The Irish designer has previously worked with the shop to create a T-shirt to celebrate Topshop’s sponsorship of the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN scheme in February but this will be his first ready-to-wear collection for the brand.

He told vogue.co.uk: ”I am very excited to collaborate with Topshop. It gives me the opportunity to reach a much wider audience with my designs. It has always been very important to me that my collections are made accessible to anyone interested in fashion and design.”

The range will include clothing – inclduing jersey, knitwear and denim items – as well as homeware, featuring pencils, memory sticks, Rubik’s cubes, vintage magazines and photography books.

Topshop creative director Kate Phelan said: ”The launch with JW Anderson is a new and exciting approach for Topshop to our collaborations. The capsule collection is a best of all his design ideas to date, a sort of must have wardrobe of covetable pieces by this unique designer.

”The interesting twist however is the cool collectable items that will make up the rest of this collection, which JW Anderson has picked himself.”
