Vera Farmiga’s praise for Gleeson

Vera Farmiga loved working on her improvisation skills with ‘Safe House’ co-star Brendan Gleeson.

Vera Farmiga loved improvising with Brendan Gleeson in ‘Safe House’.

The American actress stars as CIA operative Catherine Linklater in the movie alongside Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington but admitted it was Irish actor Brendan, who plays colleague David Barlow, who she enjoyed working with the most.

She told Stylist magazine: "I spend most of my screen time with Brendan Gleeson and Sam Shepherd. I had a wicked time fighting off Brendan’s improvisation advances. He’s the equivalent of a Dobermann when it comes to freeballing. It’s always going up against an Irishman’s antics!"

Vera also revealed she took on the role of Catherine because it is different to the parts she usually plays.

She said: "My character, Linklater is different to the ones I usually play. She’s more defined by her actions than a complex back story, she’s there to push the plot along. I relished it."

‘Safe House’ stars Ryan as a young CIA agent tasked with looking after a fugitive in a safe house, who finds himself on the run with his charge (Denzel).
