Victoria Beckham overwhelmed at dress success

Victoria Beckham has been overwhelmed by the response to her new range of dresses for her more affordable Victoria, Victoria Beckham line.

Victoria Beckham has been overwhelmed by the response to her new range of dresses.

The singer-turned-designer showcased her second collection for her Victoria, Victoria Beckham, line yesterday (15.02.12) at New York Fashion Week and admits she is stunned at how popular the items have become.

Victoria – who also has her high-end collection of dresses – said: ”The response has been quite breathtaking. I want to give my customer and the retailer what they want. It’s still girly, it’s still fun and it’s still fresh and you can see the personality.”

Last season’s debut collection of the more affordable line has been seen on the likes of Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams and sold strongly at Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Net-a-Porter.

Her second offering featured clean lines, shifts shapes, pointed collars, cuffed sleeves and fun prints.

She told her guests at the intimate show: ”It’s what I like to wear, it’s the other side to my wardrobe.”

Victoria – who was joined at the show by her seven-month-old daughter Harper – later added: ”I think it is important to offer my customer something that is very much signature to me at a less expensive price point.”

As well as impressing with her collections at NYFW, Victoria – who also has three sons with soccer star husband David – has been named as one of the ambassadors for a new campaign called GREAT that’s aiming to attract tourism and investment into Britain during 2012 and beyond.

The 37-year-old star – who hails from the UK but now lives in Los Angeles – posed with a number of other fashion A-listers including Anna Wintour and Tamara Mellon to promote the campaign at New York’s Grand Central station.
