A magical Christmas in Quebec City

Hotels offer special holiday season packages.

The luxurious five-star Auberge Saint-Antoine hotel located in the heart of Québec City’s Old Port and across from the St. Lawrence River, and just steps from the fortifications, museums, and bustling streets of the Petit Champlain district, is offering special Christmas and New Year’s Eve packages.

The two-night Christmas package includes a horse-drawn carriage tour of snow-covered Old Québec, snuggled under warm blankets, delicious hot chocolate or mulled wine served with traditional Christmas cookies, admission for two to Musée de la civilization, and traditional Christmas dinner à la Panache.

Also included: indoor valet parking, a one-hour baking workshop for kids, a visit from Santa Claus with gifts for children, Christmas brunch and breakfast on the second morning, and a special Christmas movie screening in the hotel theatre. The package rate is $515 per night, based on double occupancy.

The New Year’s Eve package, at $770 per night, based on double occupancy, also includes dinner and dance, and brunch on New Year’s Day.

Another great place to spend the holidays are the U.S. Virgin Islands. Known for its tax-free shopping, the main street shops of St. Thomas offer jewelry, watches and crystal at low prices.

For nature lovers, half the island of St. John is a protected national park, while St. Croix offers golf, scuba diving, and a casino.
