Dali sculptures on display in French Alps

French ski resort of Megève hosts open-air art exhibit.

An open-air exhibition of sculptures by surrealist artist Salvador Dali is being held at the famous ski resort of Megève near the Mont-Blanc in the French Alps.

Considered to be one of the most beautiful resorts in the world, Megève will display nine original bronze Dali sculptures around the area.

One bronze sculpture, Alice in Wonderland, weighing over half a ton, was brought in by helicopter just in time for the resort’s season opening this weekend.

On loan from Shanghai, the sculpture is valued at 2.8 million euros ($3.75 million), and will rest at the base of the gondola lift.

The exhibition, including such works as Piano Surrealiste and Space Elephant, runs from December 15, 2011 to April 5, 2012.
