Eleven Nations art exhibit in Montreal

Old Montreal welcomes contemporary First Nations and Inuit artists.

The Eleven Nations art exhibit, featuring contemporary First Nations and Inuit artists, will open in the Bonsecours Market in Old Montreal on December 13, and run until the following December 2012.

The exhibition brings together artists from all over Quebec, including the Abenaki, Algonquin, Attikamek, Cree, Huron-Wendat, Innu, Inuit, Malecite, Mi’kmaq, Mohawk and Naskapi Nations.

Held in Gilles-Carle Hall, the Eleven Nations exhibition brings some much-needed attention to the contemporary First Nations and Inuit art scene, providing an important platform for artists to display their work.

The Eleven Nations exhibition confirms the relevance and importance of contemporary Canadian artists, and the year-long exhibit will also feature various performance events.
