Giant Lego Christmas tree at UK train station

40-foot structure is holiday centerpiece of St. Pancras station in London.

Taking two months to build and reaching right up to the rafters, a massive 40-foot (12.2 m) Christmas tree made entirely of the plastic toy Lego bricks, including the branches, ornaments, and even the star on top, now sits in the center of London’s St. Pancras international train station, reports the Guardian.

Lego enthusiasts will be relieved to know its creation was entrusted to Duncan Titmarsh of Bright Bricks, the UK’s only Lego Certified Professional.

The tree is composed of more than 600,000 pieces, including 172 Lego branches decorated with approximately 1,200 Lego ornaments made by children from Edith Neville Primary School, Copenhagen Primary School and the Harpenden Explorer Scouts Unit.

Some ornaments are decorated with Quick Response codes and passersby can use their smart phones to decrypt them.

On display at the station until January 2, plans are underway to submit this largest Lego Christmas tree ever for entry into the Guinness Book of Records.
